Olive's Masters Preferred Agility Career
On February 22, 2013, Olive was entered for the first time in Masters Preferred agility, where she jumps at 4" instead of 8". Since Olive was spayed last year she has gained some weight and doesn't have as much energy, so we think she'll have more fun jumping 4".
This is a record of all of Olive's runs in Masters Preferred. Click here for the record of Olive's runs in Excellent B/Masters.
Bossa is running the same courses at 8". Click here for Bossa's runs.
Olive has 370 championship points and 14 double Qs towards PACH2.
A dog requires 750 championship points and 20 double Qs to receive the PACH title.

|
November 13, 2016 Sno-King Agilty Club Argus Ranch indoors on dirt |

|
November 6, 2016 Puget Sound Labs Argus Ranch indoors on dirt |

Olive still loves running together. 358 |
|
October 2, 2016 Tervurens Fun Fur Paws, Mt Vernon indoors on dirt |

We had a few runs over the past few months where Olive started slow and didn't make time. It was nice to see her running again. 357 |
|
May 29, 2016 Mission Circuit Fairplex, Pomona dirt |
79.24 (SCT 81) One of those starts that Olive really doesn't like (C-shaped tunnel to a pinwheel) but after a couple of contacts she started running strong. 1 point Mary Mullen |
Olive isn't a huge fan of this surface, but the cool weather was a big help. 355 | |
April 30, 2016 Border Terriers Industry dirt under cover |
73.63 (SCT 80) Olive looked good and drove the entire time, but there were few opportunities to cut corners. This is pretty much her speed these days. 3rd place 6 points Cynthia Tilly |
Olive continues to run well in standard, but not fast enough to Q in JWW. 354 |
|
March 20, 2016 Staffies VHOC Escondido grass |
60.23 (SCT 80) A nice cool day and good footing. Olive ran a tight line and drove hard the entire course. Very impressive run. 1st place 19 points Debby Wheeler |
The cool weather was surprising - we regretted not entering her in jumpers! 348 |
|
February 7, 2016 Portuguese Water Dogs Industry dirt |
61.xx (SCT 55) Once again a slowish start on the jumpers course (after having to wait for a while for the start). Didn't make time. Laura English |
61.37 (SCT 79) Even though it was warmish (mid-70s), Olive was fired up and ran hard from the very start. A great run. 4th place 17 points Video Mary Mullen |
The conditions here weren't as nice as our last visit. The dirt was really dusty. 329 |
January 1, 2016 Boston Terriers of WA Elma, WA dirt |
54.69 (SCT 53) Olive took a while to get moving on this course. By the end she was flying, but the lost enough time at the start to NQ on time. Robin Veenema |
65.29 (SCT 73) Olive looked great on a smooth surface in cold conditions. 3rd place 7 points Robin Veenema |
Really good conditions for Olive, and so close to a double Q. Olive looked really solid here. 312 |
December 20, 2015 Vizslas Industry dirt |
61.68 (SCT 77) The best footing we've seen at Industry in a while, nice and smooth dirt. Plus it was cold. Olive was a speed demon! 3rd place 15 points Kitty Bradley |
Olive has not been interested in running lately. It was nice to see her hungry for agility. 305 |
|
October 31, 2015 Vizslas Chino Fairgrounds grass |
77.14 (SCT 81) The footing wasn't nice and it was pretty hot out, but Olive was clearly having fun and turned in a nice performance. 2nd place 3 points Jacqui O'Neil |
Really not good conditions at all, but I'm proud of Olive for fighting through. 290 |
|
September 27, 2015 Aztec Doberman Point Loma grass |
69.84 (SCT 79) The best I've seen Olive run in a while. We stretched her before the run and she seemed to like that. Great A frame. 1st place 9 points Diane Fyfe |
It was really nice to see Olive running fast even though it was a bit toasty out. 287 |
|
August 2, 2015 German Shephers SD San Diego NTC grass |
Between the course (no tunnels and LONG distances) and the heat, we decided to scratch. | 76.97 (SCT 81) Not a fast run, but clean and good enough to qualify. Olive definitely enjoys running standard. 1st place 4 points Bob Jeffers |
Always good to see Olive out running hard. 1028 |
July 19, 2015 DAC Ventura Camarillo grass |
A longish Sunday course, and Olive was struggling with the heavy grass. She ran well, just not fast enough, NQing on time. Jacqui O'Neil |
69.14 (SCT 78). Olive got in to the flow of this course early and kept picking up speed. A solid performance, great contacts and fast weaves. 4th place 8 points Craig Josling |
It was pretty hot the whole day, and Olive was clearly not her best. But she still had fun and ran well. 1024 |
June 20, 2015 LA Goldens Industry dirt |
It was getting hot so we didn't run Olive in Jumpers. | 68.82 (SCT 75). A nice flowy course that Olive enjoyed, even though the dirt was very pebbly. Solid performance, if not super fast. 3rd place 6 points Beverly Morgan Lewis |
The surface wasn't particularly nice today, but Olive kept up a decent pace the entire course. 1016 |
May 23, 2015 Mission Circuit Pomona dirt |
52.xx (SCT 50) I mostly ran on the outside of the course, and Olive eventually got some good speed going, but her dawdling for the first 8-10 jumps cost a Q. Dave Hirsch |
70.35 (SCT 78) Not super fast - Olive was acting like she had a dirt clod in her front paw for a good part of the course - but fast enough to pick up some points. 3rd place 7 points Scott Stock |
If we had known it was going to be a cool weekend we might have entered Olive more. Nice runs. 1010 |
April 18, 2015 PWD club Chino grass |
Not entered. | N/T (SCT 81). Olive was surprisingly good through the early course, but missed the first pole of the weaves (on the front edge of the ring), and rather than pushing on to pole two, she blew them off. Picked her up. Windle Ewing |
Olive was surprisingly good even after another lengthy delay getting ready for the first dog on the line. 1003 |
April 11, 2015 Chatahoochee Weimeraners Perry, GA indoors on dirt |
62.69 (SCT 58) Olive never seemed fired up outside the ring, and had zero spark in the ring. Slow, but clean. Over time. We'd hoped for a better run, with jumpers first, but it was just too muggy. Bob Jeffers |
83.38 (SCT 81). This course didn't have any standard obstacles until the dog walk at 11, and Olive was nose down most of that time. Sped up later, but not enough to qualify. Over time. Lisa Dempsey |
It was disappointing looking up and seeing the first digits on the timer after each run, but she was only 6 seconds total over for the day. 1003 |
April 4, 2015 Danville KC Gretna, VA indoors on dirt |
52.56 (SCT 56) Olive had her nose down on the early part of the course, but eventually picked it up and ran fast enough for a Q. 1st place 3 points Dave Mancino |
62.07 (SCT 75). After a little running around the outside at the start, Olive took off and ran well. Slow on the A-frame descent. 1st place 12 points Dave Mancino |
Between the cold temperatures and a massage between runs, Olive looked good on a nice double Q. Double Q #34 1003 |
March 21, 2015 Rhodesians Point Loma grass |
We don't get to run jumpers first very often, and Olive enjoyed starting the day in the cool weather. The start was slow - tunnel/weaves - but then she started to race through the rest of the course. Great run. 1st place 9 points Rene Fitch |
N/T (SCT 81). Olive warmed up great and was ready to go, but the ring crew spent three minutes futzing around after the buzzer and Olive lost her interest in running. Picked her up. Rene Fitch |
It's nice to see Olive earn points in the jumpers ring for a change. 988 |
March 15, 2015 Goldens Camarillo grass |
It was really hot out and given Olive's time in standard, we let her rest in the A/C. Peter Liu |
71.95 (SCT 80). The opening included a four-jump pinwheel taken for six jumps... not exactly Olive's favorite. But she stuck it out and got a nice Q. 8 points Donna Gomer |
It was starting to get hot for Standard. By Jumpers it was plain unpleasant out. 979 |
February 22, 2015 Silver Bay Del Mar dirt |
Olive ran in (and won) Beginner Novice B instead of entering jumpers today. Mark Upshaw |
66.64 (SCT 80). We went straight from obedience to run standard, and Olive seemed to like the frenetic pace. A nice run, without having to run on the outside at any time. 1st place 13 points Scott Stock |
The footing here at Del Mar is so much nicer than Industry! Even cooler temperatures than Saturday. 971 |
February 21, 2015 Silver Bay Del Mar dirt |
50.55 (SCT 49) Olive got a slow start on a long stretch of jumps. Even with a good second half of the course, she didn't make time. Scott Stock |
61.37 (SCT 74). Really good from the start, although a little slow on the down side of the A-frame. Nice performance. 2nd place 12 points Mark Upshaw |
It was fairly cool in the building. Olive really looked good on the standard course. 958 |
February 8, 2015 Std Schnauzers Escondido grass |
Too hot and given the standard performance, we scratched. Karen Wlodarski |
92+ (SCT 81). Slow (over time), stopped to chew at her foot before a jump, came out the wrong end of a tunnel. Not a good performance. Karen Wlodarski |
We tried a start from a "squish" and that didn't go well. I don't think Olive drives in that position without treats. 946 |
February 1, 2015 PWDs Industry dirt under cover |
Olive doesn't perform well in the jumpers ring at COI unless it's really chilly out, so scratched. Laura English |
N/T (SCT 80). Sort of slow through the first several obstacles, sped up for a tunnel, and then just stopped at the entrance to the weaves. Picked her up. Jacqui O'Neill |
Between the pebbly surface and the heat, this wasn't the sort of day that Olive likes. The last two weekends were much colder. 946 |
January 25, 2015 Mensona Santa Rosa dirt under cover |
We had planned to try Olive in T2B in the morning so didn't enter jumpers. Kay Vonnahme |
60.84 (SCT 81). Even though she hopped across the dog walk on three legs (dirt clod in her paw?) she raced on to a nice fast time. 1st place 20 points Courtney Moore |
Olive continues to like me racing her on the outside of the opening obstacles. 946 |
January 24, 2015 Mensona Santa Rosa dirt under cover |
49.26 (SCT 55) A nice steady performance by Olive, even with softer dirt through the back part of the ring. 2nd place 5 points Courtney Moore |
62.76 (SCT 81). Olive clearly liked the cold temperatures and the hard dirt surface. A very nice run. 2nd place 18 points Kay Vonnahme |
Olive continues to look great when the weather is cold. She really drove for the weaves. Double Q #33 926 |
January 17, 2015 DFAO Portland mats indoors |
54.20 (SCT 54) The start area was covered in dog fur and dust and so Olive started with a bunch of sniffing, but by obstacle three sped up and made time (barely). 3rd place Lisa Dempsey |
61.00 (SCT 75). Olive felt more comfortable with the footing and turned in a good, fast run. Nice contacts. 2nd place 14 points Ronda Bermke |
Not as fast as yesterday, but Olive still showed a lot of heart and turned in a nice double Q. Double Q # 32 903 |
January 16, 2015 DFAO Portland mats indoors |
44.26 (SCT 50) A nice solid run by Olive, placing in the middle of the 4" pack. 4th place 5 points Ronda Bermke |
66.92 (SCT 81). A nice solid performance on the good footing on the mats in Portland. Sped up from the A-frame (obstacle 2) to the end. 2nd place 14 points Lisa Dempsey |
A really nice performance, great attention, good speed. Double Q # 31 889 |
January 4, 2015 Cockers Industry dirt |
N/T (SCT 50) This really didn't feel like a course that Olive would like, so we scratched. Scott Stock |
64.11 (SCT 79). Sped up fairly early on the course, but missed the weave entrance, looking up at me. I need to remember to talk her through the weaves. Dave Hirsch |
That's the second time recently we've had a problem with Olive looking at me like the weaves are a foreign obstacle. 870 |
December 26, 2014 Keeshonds Chino Fairgrounds thick grass |
39.90 (SCT 47) We were first dog and didn't realize there wouldn't be a five minute count-up... so raced into the ring and the best jumpers run by Olive in quite a while. 7 points Wendy Pennington |
68.81 (SCT 80). A bit of a slow start (backside of jump 2) but Olive kept up a good pace for a Q. 3rd place 11 points Wendy Pennington |
The surface was uneven and the grass thick, so this was a solid performance for Olive. Double Q # 30 870 |
December 21, 2014 Vizslas Industry dirt |
52.61 (SCT 49) Olive was clean, but not very fast, and was over time. Really had to handle the weaves heavily to get her into the entrance. Terry Culley |
N/T (SCT 81). Olive was looking pretty good up to the late weaves, but when I called weaves she looked at me like I was speaking Finnish. Mary Mullen |
Olive really doesn't like the surface here. It was a little warmer than usual for December, but not hot. 852 |
December 13, 2014 Vizslas Industry dirt |
Since Olive was running slow this weekend, we decided to scratch her entry. Tom Slattery |
69.05 (SCT 80). A nice run, although it's clear that the footing isn't her favorite. Sped up on the contacts, a sure sign she doesn't like the dirt. 3rd place 10 points Lavonda Herring |
This was a small trial, with Olive and Bossa running close in the order. Both were ringside. Olive may not have liked sharing the attention. 852 |
December 12, 2014 Cockers Industry dirt |
57.62 (SCT 54) Olive started well and was running ok until she didn't come out of the tunnel - saw her inside sniffing where the snuggler was. Clearly didn't like the surface. Over time. Lavonda Herring |
N/T (SCT 79). Slow start (Olive never likes chute to start), and was going so slow she missed the weave entrance. I picked her up. Lavonda Herring |
The surface was the sort of pebbly dirt that Olive never likes running on. Still, not a good showing. 842 |
December 6, 2014 SD Goldens VHOC Escondido wet grass |
56.60 (SCT 52) Olive didn't look happy running on the wet grass, was slow throughout, and turned back to sniff at a jump. Over time. Alan Arthur |
N/T (SCT 76). Olive was still running slow on the second run of the day, but then stopped and wandered off at the second pole of the weaves. I picked her up. Alan Arthur |
Olive seemed hot and not very happy with the conditions. Disappointing. Olive's MJP3 certificate arrived today.842 |
November 30, 2014 Keeshonds Industry dirt under cover |
52.07 (SCT 60) A little slow through the early part of the course, but picked up speed on the second half. Not super fast, but a good run. 7 points Jan Skurzynski |
63.70 (SCT 81). Olive was pretty fired up, even though the start was a tight 180. Great run. 17 points Dale Mahoney |
Very cool (actually raining out in the parking lot). Great conditions. Double Q #29842 |
November 23, 2014 Orange Empire Bloomington grass |
It was really windy and we all decided to call it an early day. |
N/T (SCT ?). Popped out of the weaves at pole six (shade to sun transition). Then I left out part of the course!. Ann Croft |
Not the best conditions, not our best day.818 |
November 15, 2014 Samoyeds Chino Fairgrounds grass |
53.07 (SCT 55) Olive didn't find this course as motivating as Bossa did, and it was the second run of the day. Still she kept at it and earned the Q. 4th place 1 point Kitty Bradley |
59.62 (SCT 77). A really twisty course with a lot of changes of direction. Olive kept speeding up the whole time. Nice run. 4th place 17 points Donna Gomer |
Definitely lost some speed running Jumpers after Standard, and the surface wasn't nearly as good as last week. Double Q #28 818 |
November 8, 2014 SD Rhodesians Miramar short grass |
41.63 (SCT 49) Warm out, but Olive was ticked off that Bossa had an early morning run (T2B) and she didn't. Fast and clean. 1st place 7 points Dan Butcher |
63.69 (SCT 80). She looked like she was going to melt in the heat, and nose down at the first jump, but then she just got faster and faster. 1st place 16 points Dan Butcher |
After ten weeks off, with only one class session in that whole time, it was nice to be in the ring again. Olive looked great. Double Q #27 800 |
August 24, 2014 Rhodesians Camarillo PVIC dry grass |
It was getting hot out, so we scratched. None of the other five 4" dogs made time! Dan Butcher |
65.74 (SCT 79). A good run on a tricky course, but I didn't wait for Olive to recover from a bumpy teeter dismount and rushed her weave entrance. Rene Fitch |
Sunday started nicer than Saturday, but it was very hot by the time Jumpers ran. Olive got to celebrate her PACH with ocean retrieving (in warm ocean waters) after the trial. 777 |
August 23, 2014 Rhodesians Camarillo PVIC dry grass |
49.10 (SCT 58) A solid, fast run. Even though it was hot out, Olive started fast and built speed through the course. 3rd place 8 points Rene Fitch |
62.42 (SCT 80). Olive ran an inspired course, with a good tight line and fast contacts. 3rd place 17 points Dan Butcher |
It was a little hot, but Olive didn't seem to mind. Good performances. Double Q #26 777 |
August 2, 2014 German Shepherds San Diego NTC grass |
49.01 (SCT 55) It was starting to drizzle by the time of the second run, and despite a delay at the scribe table Olive had a nice solid run. The next dog had a slight delay for our victory lap. :) 2nd place 5 points Ronda Bermke |
61.54 (SCT 76). It was a little muggy but not too hot. Olive ran with her nose down a lot, but still turned in a nice performance. 1st place 14 points Ronda Bermke |
Olive had a good day and earned her PACH Title with style. Double Q #25 752 |
July 6, 2014 Samoyeds Industry dirt under cover |
46.41 (SCT 48) Again, not nearly as hot as on the 4th, but still pretty toasty. Good start, and Olive didn't drop her nose or anything like that. Time mostly due to surface and heat. 1 point Peter Liu |
69.08 (SCT 80). Not super fast, but a good solid run and picked up some speed in the second half. The run was earlier in the day, so it wasn't so hot. 4th place 10 points Karen Wlodarski |
The surface was more dry and dusty today - Bossa had some difficulty with getting traction. Good performance by Olive. Double Q #24 733 |
July 4, 2014 Samoyeds Industry dirt under cover |
57.10 (SCT 51) It was simply hot, and even using Bossa to try to wind Olive up wasn't enough. Once again, clean but over time. Peter Liu |
73.49 (SCT 81). Olive wasn't moving very fast, clearly not liking the footing, but then she pulled out of the weaves at pole 10. Karen Wlodarski |
The dirt was hard and in little marble-like clumps, and it was just plain hot. Not Olive's favorite conditions. 722 |
June 20, 2014 Papillons Camarillo grass |
60.10 (SCT 56) Another course starting with a tunnel, and this time in hot sun, and Olive wasn't inspired by either. Clean but over time. Bob Jeffers |
63.07 (SCT 81). A little slow through the first four obstacles but Olive picked up speed and looked really solid in the later tricky bits. 3rd place 17 points Mark Upshaw |
The air temperature wasn't so bad, but the sun was hot and the air was still. Olive didn't like the conditions at all. 722 |
June 15, 2014 Bichon Frisee San Diego NTC grass |
52.13 (SCT 55) The course started jump weaves, and didn't leave me anywhere to get Olive revved up. Still a nice run for a couple of points. 2nd place 2 points Jacquie O'Neill |
62.65 (SCT 80). Olive doesn't seem to like these tunnel starts, but she still turned in a nice fast run (excellent dog walk). Sydney was just a little faster today. 2nd place 17 points Jacquie O'Neill |
Nice surface and the air temperature wasn't bad, but the sun was heating Olive up. Today was tall to small... a rarity! DOUBLE Q #23 705 |
May 24, 2014 Mission Circuit Pomona dirt under cover |
49.90 (SCT 57) A really choppy course, but Olive ran fairly well. The footing was better than the Standard ring. 7 points Alan Arthur |
75.30 (SCT 79). Olive actually came back out of a C tunnel under the dog walk, but a scribe error gave us a gift. That was a big part of the slow time. (By the time I'd looked at the recently entered dogs, the run was already off the display). 3 points Kay Vonnahme |
The ground was wet and clumps of dirt were sticking to Olive's paws. She really didn't look comfortable today. DOUBLE Q #22 686 |
May 23, 2014 Mission Circuit Pomona dirt under cover |
42.89 (SCT 52) A nice flowing course with pretty evenly good footing. Olive beat four other qualifiers. 1st place 9 points Kay Vonnahme |
55.78 (SCT 79). Olive was really fired up for a course that could have been demotivating for her, but she was fast and focused. Good footing, cool temperatures. 1st place 23 points Alan Arthur |
It's nice to catch a break with good weather for Mission Circuit this year. Cool air and the surface was well wetted (not too many dusty patches). DOUBLE Q #21 676 |
May 5, 2014 DCA Sacramento long grass |
39.26 (SCT 46) Other dogs were having trouble with scents near the entrance to the weaves, but Olive powered through. 1st place 6 points Jan Budzynski |
63.54 (SCT 81). A solid performance to wrap up the day, earning both preferred High in Trial awards. 1st place 17 points Jan Budzynski |
Cool temperatures even though it was bright. Olive earns her PAX (and her MXPB title at the same time) in style at DCA. DOUBLE Q #20 644 |
April 26, 2014 Border Terriers Industry hard dirt |
40.74 (SCT 55) There was a timer problem at the start so we had to restart... and Olive really took off the second time. Good fast run. 4th place 14 points Terry Elger |
58.08 (SCT 78). A starting tunnel, which usually is slow for Olive, but she put in a good solid performance. 2nd place 19 points Lavonda Herring |
A nice return to the ring after a lot of travel. Bossa ran earlier and that seemed to fire Olive up. DOUBLE Q #19 621 |
March 16, 2014 Goldens Camarillo Grass |
Olive had fun retrieving in the ocean on Saturday afternoon, but looked tired on her standard run. We decided to just go home. Jacqui O'Neill |
71.86 (SCT 81). Olive was pretty slow throughout. When I took a step back at the table during the count, Olive followed. Dan Faulkner |
Not our best weekend. The trial site is very nice, and the farmers market nearby on Saturday was a good bonus. 588 |
March 15, 2014 Goldens Camarillo Grass |
51.21 (SCT 58).
Again I ran the outside of the first part of the course, but had to stop at a tunnel on the ring boundary and Olive pulled out of the tunnel. Dan Faulkner |
57.05 (SCT 77). Olive looked good on this cool early run. Solid contacts, tight line throughout. 1st place 19 points Jacqui O'Neill |
None of us got much sleep (problems with our reservation at the beach-side campground), and it showed. 588 |
March 1, 2014 Tervs Fairplex - Pomona Dirt under cover |
38.28 (SCT 52).
I ran the outside of the first half of the course and that motivated Olive to run fast! Beat three other qualifiers. [Video] 1st place 13 points Pam Sturz |
54.97 (SCT 75). A cold day and a course with early weaves combined for a fast run. Nice placement out of five qualifiers. 2nd place 20 points Peter Liu |
Olive was pretty ticked that Bossa got to go play on Thursday and she didn't. Glad she channeled that energy into a pair of nice runs. DOUBLE Q #18 569 |
February 9, 2014 Gamblers AC of LV Boulder City, NV Grass |
39.86 (SCT 50).
Another solid performance by Olive. No problems in the offside weaves. 1st place 10 points Cindy Macklin |
59.34 (SCT 75). It was starting to warm up but another strong run. Olive almost missed the 12th weave pole (onside) but fought for it and got the Q. 1st place 15 points Cindy Macklin |
Both Bossa and Olive really ran well on this surface. We definitely had fun (and some good progress). DOUBLE Q #17 536 |
February 8, 2014 Gamblers AC of LV Boulder City, NV Grass |
NT (SCT 53).
Olive was going fine from the start, and the weaves were early (6, offside) but she pulled out at pole ten. I put her back in the weaves and she popped again. Picked up. No party. Cindy Macklin |
56.76 (SCT 78). Olive had a grudge after not getting to celebrate Jumpers, and cracked off a fast, sharp run. Great contacts. (Onside weaves) 1st place 21 points Cindy Macklin |
Conditions were excellent - good footing and cool all day. Olive may not have liked that I judged the day before.511 |
January 25, 2014 Mensona KC Santa Rosa, CA Dirt under cover |
45.88 (SCT 55).
The footing wasn't quite as good in this ring, and looking at the video Olive was looking at things outside the ring during the run, but it was still a nice fast run. 1st place 9 points Tom Slattery |
49.63 (SCT 73). Nice and cold under the arena roof and Olive was flying . Fast contacts and a great line, even though weaves were second to last on the course. 1st place 23 points Alan Arthur |
Even though we'd spent the week at DCA field events, Olive was happy to turn in a strong performance. DOUBLE Q #16 490 |
January 18, 2013 Simi Valley Van Nuys, CA grass |
44.53 (SCT 49).
Both courses today started with a tunnel, and Olive didn't seem so excited by that. Still a decent run, even if I had to run outside on some early parts. 2nd place 5 points Tami Domico |
60.51 (SCT 81). A nice strong run until straight off the A-Frame where Olive just stopped to sniff, earning a refusal just before the table. Kera Holm |
A warmer day, and the surface wasn't the best (we were here to let Bossa see a typical park setting - Bossa Q'd in novice FAST and did the weaves). 458 |
January 4, 2014 Cockers City of Industry, CA Dirt under cover |
44.49 (SCT 56).
I wasn't feeling very good (sinus infection) but Olive stepped up and was strong from start to finish. I didn't have to run the outside anywhere. On-side weaves. 2nd place 11 points Cindy Tilley |
56.38 (SCT 81). Not the best course for Olive's speed, but she was solid from start to end. Impressive run. Off-side weaves. 1st place 24 points Ronda Bermke |
Chilly under the cover, even after noon for the jumpers run. Bossa turned in a nice performance in Novice FAST (but didn't Q). DOUBLE Q #15 454 |
December 15, 2013 Vizslas City of Industry, CA Dirt under cover |
41.88 (SCT 52).
Not as fast as yesterday, but still a nice run. I was on the outside for a lot of the run. 1st place 10 points Alan Arthur |
NT (SCT 76). Things were looking good until Olive bailed out of the weaves at pole 9 (weaving on-side). Didn't see any issue in my handling on the video. Kera Holm |
Again it was cool under the roof. Bossa was along today - maybe this is Olive's way of saying "no puppy!". 419 |
December 14, 2013 Vizslas City of Industry, CA Dirt under cover |
42.06 (SCT 56).
Olive was fast off the line on her second run of the day and kept driving the whole way. Really nice performance. [Video] 1st place 13 points Kera Holm |
50.07 (SCT 80). Fast from the very start, excellent contacts and weaves. Really impressive run. One of her fastest in a long time. [Video] 1st place 29 points Alan Arthur |
Nice cool weather under the roof. Didn't bring Bossa today (for the first time in a long time). Maybe Olive prefers that. ;) DOUBLE Q #14 409 |
November 30, 2013 Keeshonds City of Industry, CA Dirt under cover |
42.91 (SCT 49).
A really hard weave entrance that was keeping the Q rate down, but Olive nailed it. She was a little warm before the run but had a good time. 2nd place 6 points Jean Munger |
57.60 (SCT 77). Not the hardest course we've seen, but Olive looked good and fast. The closing had two big straight runs and Olive really picked up speed on them. 1st place 19 points Karen Winter |
A brief flirt with fall seems to be over - it was sunny and warmer today. Still nice to get a QQ again. DOUBLE Q #13 367 |
November 29, 2013 Keeshonds City of Industry, CA Dirt under cover |
40.11 (SCT 51).
A pretty nice run but Olive dropped her nose at pole six in the weaves and did enough sniffing to NQ. Karen Winters |
54.97 (SCT 75). Another really fast standard run, and this time both the table and weaves were solid. 1st place 20 points Jean Munger |
A couple of weeks in class helped polish things, but missing another 10 points (and a QQ) due to a sniff hurt. 342 |
November 16, 2013 Samoyed Club Walnut, CA Grass |
44.94 (SCT 49).
We were ready to roll at the end of the countdown but the ring wasn't. Olive ended up running sluggish and I didn't work her all the way through the weaves, pulling out at pole 10. Scott Stock |
55.39 (SCT 78). Once again Olive was a speed demon, but she came off the table during the count as I moved to the other side, and that killed our Q. Good fast run. Would have easily been first place. Donna Gomer |
We still haven't been to class in ages (another business trip between the last two shows) and the rust is starting to show. 322 |
November 2, 2013 Vizslas Walnut, CA Grass |
46.84 (SCT 55).
Not quite as fast a start as the first run (temperatures were getting up close to 80) but still a good solid run. 1st place 8 points Kay Vonnahme |
55.86 (SCT 77). Olive was on fire for her first run in two months. Fast and accurate the whole course, placed ahead of three other qualifiers. 1st place 21 points Stephanie Capkovic |
We mostly entered to let Olive have some exercise between business trips, but wow did she impress! DOUBLE Q #12 322 |
September 7, 2013 West Coast Cockers City of Industry Dirt indoors |
(SCT 44).
It was just plain hot and none of us were enjoying the heat, so we left early. |
68.58 (SCT 80). The surface wasn't particularly good (pebbly) and it was HOT. Given that, Olive looked solid on this longish course. 2nd place 11 points Cynthia Blanton |
Temperatures near 100 for Olive's first run (it was much cooler early in the day for Bossa's ring debut). 293 |
September 1, 2013 Evergreen Goldens Argus Ranch Auburn, WA Dirt indoors |
45.66 (SCT 56).
Second run of the day, and even with an opening pinwheel Olive looked good throughout. I ran the first part of the course on the outside so that she would chase me. A little slip in the weaves. 1st place 10 points Courtney Moore |
58.27 (SCT 80). Olive really liked the footing in the Argus barn and flew through the course. Good dog walk (I left her in the dust). 1st place 21 points Jack Cadalso |
The main day of competition on our Pacific Northwest trip this year. Olive looked focused and fast. DOUBLE Q #11 282 |
August 11, 2013 DASH Fountain Valley Grass |
41.43 (SCT 53).
A good first run of the day, early enough that the marine layer was keeping it cool out. Blew her start line stay. 3rd place 11 points Tom Slattery |
63.47 (SCT 72). The sun broke through before the run and it was hot on the course. Slow at the start, particularly dog walk at #2, but picked up speed later on. 3rd place 8 points Cathy Nelson |
A nice performance on the first anniversary of Olive's MACH. Definitely better weather this year. DOUBLE Q #10 251 |
July 19, 2013 DAC Ventura Camarillo Grass |
42.21 (SCT 49).
Olive seemed really hot when she stepped into the ring. Not sure whether we didn't manage her temperature well, or whether the last 24 hours were just too much. Still a good run. 3rd place 6 points Mark Upshaw |
62.47 (SCT 79). A good run, from start to finish. Olive drove hard and took a good line. 2nd place 16 points Gene Downing |
The night before Olive got to spend time retrieving in the Pacific Ocean. We woke up to dolphins and otters just off shore - that's pretty special. DOUBLE Q #9 232 |
July 18, 2013 DAC Ventura Camarillo Grass |
42.48 (SCT 55).
A nice start to the weekend after judging the previous weekend. Tricky course but she ran well. (Course judged by Mark) 2nd place 12 points Gene Downing |
62.49 (SCT 77). We managed Olive's body temperature well and even with a tricky slice jump start she ran well. 2nd place 14 points Mark Upshaw |
The grass was a little thick but Olive ran well and jumped solidly. DOUBLE Q #8 210 |
July 7, 2013 Samoyeds Industry Dirt under cover |
47.61 (SCT 54).
For Olive's third run of the day, I mostly ran the outside line, letting her chase me. She enjoyed that. 2nd place 6 points Jack Cadalso |
67.86 (SCT 81). Even though the start wasn't very motivating (two jumps, back to first jump), Olive kept driving and had a good solid run. 1st place 13 points Jacqui O'Neill |
A little warmer than yesterday. Started the day with a Time To Beat Q (10 points), so Olive was a little more tired by the JWW run. DOUBLE Q #7 184 |
July 6, 2013 Samoyeds Industry Dirt under cover |
41.18 (SCT 48).
A pinwheel filled course but after taking the outside line around some jumps a few times Olive picked up speed and finished strong. 2nd place 6 points Jacqui O'Neill |
64.30 (SCT 80). Diane wasn't around to do the warmup routine so I did it solo. Probably not as good as usual, but a nice dogwalk. Lost a few seconds sniffing bird poo on the table. 1st place 15 points Jack Cadalso |
Pretty decent surface, and surprisingly mild temperatures. A good pair of runs today. DOUBLE Q #6 165 |
June 20, 2013 DAC Ventura Walnut Grass |
44.97 (SCT 54).
It was warm out, but Olive put in a nice run, only to pop out of the weaves around pole nine. Possibly handler error? We're reviewing the video. Ronda Bermke |
64.46 (SCT 76). Good solid weaves late on the course, and a decent performance. The dog walk is still slow - we need to work on that. 2nd place 11 points Ronda Bermke |
Fairly warm all day, and Olive started slow but did get running each time. 144 |
May 27, 2013 Mission Circuit Pomona Fairplex Dirt under cover |
44.87 (SCT 55).
Olive seemed unsure of where we were going at the start (a tunnel) but a little running on the outside got her going blazing fast by the end. 1st place 10 points Laura English |
62.31 (SCT 81). Once again a little slow on the dog walk, but otherwise a fast, tight line. 1st place 18 points Mary Mullen |
The fair staff watered the rings overnight and the footing was much better. DOUBLE Q #5 133 |
May 23, 2013 Mission Circuit Pomona Fairplex Dirt under cover |
51.01 (SCT 58).
The dirt on the jumpers course was really loose/fluffy by the time we ran, but Olive was strong and earned another solid Q. 2nd place 6 points Laura English |
63.89 (SCT 81). A very solid performance on the standard course, with one of the best A-frames we've seen her do in competition. The footing wasn't very good but she was still fast. 1st place 17 points Mary Mullen |
The conditions weren't nearly as good as our last runs, but Olive still ran great. She was smoking fast on the FAST course. DOUBLE Q #4 105 |
May 14, 2013 DCA Gray Summit, MO Indoors astroturf |
46.65 (SCT 53).
Last run of the day, with weaves around the middle of the course, but a good solid run. Olive doesn't really like the footing in the weaves, but otherwise this is a great facility. 2nd place 6 points Karen Winter |
53.94 (SCT 74). After a good run in FAST, Olive ran well on the standard course. A little slow on the dog walk (that cost her a high in trial) but otherwise very fast. 2nd place 20 points Karen Winter |
Our first time at the Purina Event Center, indoors on astroturf. Excellent conditions for dachshunds. DOUBLE Q #3 82 |
April 6, 2013 Cockers San Diego NTC grass |
41.41 (SCT 52).
A little sluggish at the start, and I ended up getting too far ahead. When we got more in sync she picked up speed. 2nd place 10 points Mark Upshaw |
64.88 (SCT 79). Again a little slow at the start but she picked up speed the entire time. Good contacts. 1st place 14 points Mark Upshaw |
It was cool for this early morning trial. Excellent surface. We might need to warm up Olive more than we have been. DOUBLE Q #2 56 |
March 2, 2013 Tervs Orange, CA grass |
46.54 (SCT 56).
The footing in the weaves was even worse on this course, and Olive had to fight for the entrance, and she pulled it off. 2nd place 9 points Rhonda Crane |
NT (SCT 78). Olive looked good again but dropped her nose again around pole 6 of the weaves. I picked her up. Lavonda Herring |
We continue to think the grounds at this site are bad, and the heat didn't help. But Olive looked good.32 |
March 1, 2013 Tervs Orange, CA grass |
It was going to be a long wait for the second run, it was hot, and so we decided to bail. | 62.29 (SCT 71). A pretty nice run but Olive dropped here nose midway through the weaves, even though she had a really good rhythm going. Mark Upshaw |
We saw lots of dogs drop their noses in the weaves. Not sure if it was gophers or something else.23 |
Feb 22, 2013 Silver Bay Del Mar, CA indoors dirt |
39.50 (SCT 49).
I wasn't as prepared as I would like to be (going between venues) but Olive showed lots of drive, even with late weaves. 1st place 9 points Jacqueline Hoye |
66.17 (SCT 81). Not as big a difference as on the jumpers course, but Olive still looked good and drove the whole course. 1st place 14 points Jacqueline Hoye |
Olive clearly likes jumping at the lower height. Double Q #123 |
Standard Course Time (SCT): 3.05 yards per second (Jumpers), 2.5 yards per secon + 5 sec for table (Standard)
